Lincoln Park Zoo’s Zoo Lights

This past Friday, my bestie and I headed on over to Lincoln Park Zoo for their annual Zoo Lights display. Too bad the evening did NOT happen as planned, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles when you try to schedule friendships in the midst of motherhood. Unfortunately, there are NADA pictures of the two of us, but I got plenty of my ham acting ladybug and my nephew who’s in from Jersey for the holidays. They enjoyed being able to run free at the zoo, during the evening. I enjoyed having them run off excess energy.

These two are two of the most interesting cousins that I’ve seen in a long time. I don’t have any cousins that I was born in the same year as, and the dynamic keeps both my brother and I on our toes. They LOVE each other, but boy if they don’t both act like only children.

This was my first time at Zoo Lights, and I must say, I was pretty amazed at all of the lights around. There’s something special about the zoo at night in general. Add Christmas lights and holiday music, and you have an awesome display that even makes most adults feel almost childlike.

Lincoln Park Zoo LIghts - Sea Lion House

This was the sea lion area. I won’t say how they had lights timed to the music and how Sir Twizzler, the ladybug and I danced for a large amount of time.

Itching to get out of his stroller. It was KILLING him to have a blanket over him in the stroller. Seriously, it was like baby torture.

She’s definitely the grandmother of the group. Super content with a blanket surrounding her and being pushed around.

They can’t believe that there are SO MANY FISH!

Lounging hippos always look like large piles of poop to me. Forgive my political incorrectness.

I think that an annual tradition may have been born. While it was a bit chilly outside, the children LOVED it, and they were all enthralled with the music, animals and lights.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and maybe next year I will even buy a large cup of hot chocolate, and some of the GREAT smelling popcorn that was set up all over.

What Holiday traditions have you participated in OUTSIDE of your home?

Its been years since we went to Lincoln Park Zoo. It certainly has changed. I need to get the kids there this summer. I don't do cold weather.

Surprisingly, I was okay. We were inside the majority of the time. The coldest part was walking back to the car. Come on out.
