Hair Stories – More Updates!

Once again, it’s time to delve into the photo evidence that is the Houseful’s Hair Stories.

I do feel that I am getting better, and that’s all I’m going to say about that.

Last Thursday, I did three heads of hair. The twizzlers (Sir. Twizzler is getting ready to be loc’d) and the ladybug’s. Right now, the ladybug is having an issue with her scalp, so no braided styles for a while for her, just ponytails.

This is the side view of Lil’ Miss Twizzler’s braided style. She did not sit still in the least to have her hair braided, but she sure did like wearing barrettes on the braids. The vanity of my daughter is hilarious.

This is Sir Twizzler. While we are waiting for his hair to get a bit longer, I am doing interim styling because his afro gets a little janky at times. He gave me grief as well while braiding his hair, and I’m sure that you can see just how curly his hair gets. It’s fantastically ridiculous. Yes. Both of those. If you don’t like boys with long hair, or braids, or locs, this is NOT the post for you to express that feeling. Just saving both of us a bit of time.

Like I said. I think that I am getting a little bit better. I’m still no Mor-Mor, although I question her incessantly about her techniques. Especially parting, because hers is done with razor sharp precision.

So, anyone else working on hair braiding? Hair doing? Anything? Let me know!

Living in New Mexico, I found this site by following a link from Twitter. Very Happy I did. Amazing topic, and great site. Keep up the Excellent Work.

So I attempted to braid V's hair in a style last week after getting some fabulous tips at the blm meetup. It did not go well. I braided the back in loose cornrows. After many tears and escape attempts, I nursed her and did single braids in the front as best I could. Now I'm agonizing on how difficult it's going to be to take it down. argh.

You did your thing with those braids! I think you're parts look really good and I can't wait to see how much better you get.

We're still hoping that my daughter's hair with get a bit more thick or "kinky" as it were. She has curly and fine hair, so any braids we put in just fall apart. She rocks the afro puffs and straight afros most of the time. Hoping one day I'll be able to do something with it.

Gotta say that I love locs and dreads on boys. And those teeny tiny braids on your daughter are just so small and precious... I don't know how you got them to sit for it all, though!

Tracey,

I think we all cried that day. LOL! They don't sit well while I am braiding their hair, and I have to make sure that they are so sleepy that within a couple of minutes they will just drift off. Unfortunately, this time, it did NOT work. I'm still kind of flummoxed about it. Ha!
