Chicago Sights: Listen To Your Mother Final Show #LTYMChicago

I have more news for you.

I’m going to be in the final cast for the Listen to Your Mother, Chicago show. It’s on May 7th and I’m pretty stoked to be here. We’re having a multitude of the “last firsts” and I’m trying my best to take it all in. I don’t do enough taking it all in these days, and since I won’t be able to attend another show, it’s important that I focus and celebrate all that comes with this honor.

Listen To Your Mother Chicago

For those of you that don’t know too much about LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER, it’s a production that takes the audience on a well-crafted journey that celebrates and validates mothering through giving voice to motherhood–in all of its complexity, diversity, and humor.

LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER aims to support motherhood creatively through artistic expression, and also financially–through contributions to non-profit organizations supporting families in need.

I auditioned for the show in 2012 I believe, and well, since I didn’t write about it, you can assume that I didn’t make it. However, I find that given the bittersweet feeling in the air, it’s only natural that I be in this group. The last firsts.

We had our first rehearsal last Saturday, and while I didn’t cry (SCORE) I felt an overwhelming sense of emotion as I read my piece out loud in front of so many people. You see, writing words and pressing publish here is a bit different than reading those words out loud…to so many people. While rehearsal was only in front of a little more than a dozen people, the production will be in front of several hundred, and my little heart is racing at knowing that SO MANY PEOPLE WILL BE LISTENING TO ME!

Of course I can’t tell you what I’m reading, because we REALLY want you to come on to the Athenaeum Theatre, Sunday May 7th at 2PM. You can purchase early bird tickets >HERE< until March 31st. After that, the price goes up, but either way, it’s worth it.

We’ll be in the place, and I excitedly await seeing you on May 7th.

Congratulations. I'm so proud of you for not giving up back in 2012. When things to always go my why, I like to remind myself that it's just not my timing. This is sooo....awesome.
