The Chicago Auto Show gets to hail as this nation’s largest auto show ever. I haven’t been since I was a kid with my grandfather, but I have such fond memories of being able to see all of the cars that were stuck in one showroom.
This year, I was blessed enough to be able to attend as media. So, with camera in hand, I trekked on over to McCormick Place to see what great things were in store for the world of automobiles. A Lexus car that I won’t be able to afford or drive until my children are out of college.
GMC Acadia. This Impala literally took my breath away. Seriously. I’ve NEVER like the look of them, and this one basically smashed that notion to pieces. These next three photos represent the family members of our beloved Traverse. They were working hard at looking good and being a couple of years younger than our car, they were showing off. Love the dual-tone interior.
I also had the pleasure of being invited to the Toyota Tundra Block Party to see the new Toyota Tundra in all of it’s glory. Pickups have never been a Chicago thing, but this is beautiful! All I could think of, was how fun it was to ride in a pick up truck with my grandfather, and how many blessed kids will be able to say the same thing, except insert the word “cooler” in front of pick up. Mr. Houseful said that this should be our next family vehicle.
He wasn’t joking.
The Toyota section also had an indoor track where your very own driver took you around and explained the specs of a car of your choosing. All around the track, little facts kept popping up with my name in them. The particular car that I’m sitting in is the Toyota Avalon Hybrid. So comfortable, and so grown up. So essentially, I would deem this car inappropriate for my Houseful’s littles. Of course, Ford was representing as well. Even including a simulation machine for attendees to check out. What would a Chicago Auto Show be without some love to the home team. BEAR DOWN!
If I had to sneak off and cheat on my Chevy Traverse (read, I wouldn’t dump it because it’s been SO good to me!) I would do it with this fully loaded Toyota Sienna. Yes, a minivan. A very luxurious and roomy minivan. When we don’t want to put miles on our Traverse while travelling out of town, we may end up getting one of these babies. The second row seats recline. Literally, there is foot support and everything. Just look at Chicago’s own Miss Lori enjoying the benefits of it below!
I then ended my day with a conference on Getting Social with Women. So, auto makers if you want to catch our eye, USE SOCIAL MEDIA!

OMG!! That's my baby!! Love the Sienna! I have the same interior as well. I love it and the children love it. Best mother's day gift ever!
