Celebrating My Graduate with Walmart Family Mobile Cheap Wireless Plans #FamilyMobile #shop

Now is a time that I have cautiously avoided thinking about for the better sum of ten years. The graduation of my son, the cellist, from eighth grade. There are lots of things that come with moving from grammar school (what we call it here in Chicago) to high school. There are shifts, and there are opportunities to be given more responsibility. My son will probably be doing enormous amounts of after school activities, and for that he is going to need a reliable mobile phone. My husband and I are going to need the cheapest wireless plans to go along with that mobile phone. There is nothing worse than seeing a teenagers texting readout. It literally looks like binary code. Thank goodness for the Walmart Family Mobile plan available at Walmart stores around the country.  #FamilyMobile #CollectiveBias

The cellist will be starting private school next year, and we’ll need to save every penny that we have for tuition, so an expensive cell phone plan is not where it’s at for us at the moment. I know that with a smaller class size, and a more intimate school setting, he’ll have more of a social life than he did in grammar school. Well, we’re armed and ready!

What I loved about picking up this phone was the ease of it all. Just go into your local Walmart, pick out one of the phones that they have available for the Walmart Family Mobile plan, we picked out the $99.88 Nokia Lumia 521 for our mobile phone, activate at the register, and go about your way! Easy peasy.

I’m not sure that I want  to think about all of the school nights that the cellist will be out later than I would care for, but I’m confident that with a great mobile phone, my heart will rest a BIT easier. I can’t imagine what my MorMor baby and Poppy thought about when my brothers and sister and I had events after school. HELLO, we had no cell phones then, and they rolled their eyes and laughed at the thought of giving us pagers. I CAN’T BELIEVE I JUST TYPED THE P WORD!

Being easy on my pockets is another KEY POINT with this plan. I’m not worried about overages with texting, or sitting online during car rides playing Don’t Touch the White Tile (apparently its super addictive.) I can rest assured that there will be ample coverage to handle our phone calls, and the large amounts of talking and texting that he will be doing. While I trust the cellist to use the web wisely (hello spot checks) I am grateful that Walmart Family Mobile offers two different plans. One with unlimited talk, text, and web for $39.88 and another with just unlimited talk and text for $29.88. The latter would be perfect for those children who you do NOT want accessing websites at any point in time during their school day.

There was a one time activation fee for $25, and all was required was the purchase at the register which would activate the SIM card, and allow for use of the phone.

There were several phones to choose from. Android and Windows phones seem to be the choice of the day, and the price point with all being under $100 was great!

Activation was easily done at home, and I was able to pick the area code that I wanted for the cellist, as well as have everything still come in my name. Yay, adulthood! I’m also sure that with a new phone, he’ll have no problem collecting the telephone numbers of his graduating class, and keeping in touch with them over the summer and the next four years of his high school journey. He’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that they are just a phone call away, and his dad and I will have the satisfaction of knowing that we aren’t bleeding our bank account dry to keep that connection on.

There are lots of things that I realize are moving to fast. Life being one of them, but with each day that passes before the cellist starts high school, I look forward to each and every phone call and text message that I may get from him, no matter how trivial.
